Gatwick get huge Easter boost

The cold chill appears to make British citizens want to flock the country to sunnier climbs, pointing out the obvious right? Well there seems to now be concrete proof into this statement with Gatwick seizing the benefits of the cold early Easter with Easter Sunday being the coldest Easter in the UK on record since records began in 1960 with temperatures dipping as low as -9.8C a ridiculous temperature for the last day in March.

Temperatures are of course warmer abroad giving more people the ambition to travel on their Easter break with places like Spain for example having an average temperature on Easter Sunday of 16C there’s a considerable distance between that and the frozen ground in the UK. It comes as no surprise then that many people wish to travel abroad on their Easter holidays, this comes with great admiration from all the airports as they see increases in passenger amounts sore as the weather gets colder in the UK, it may not be a good thing for most of us but there loving it.

All airports have seen a massive increase in traffic for the most part as the cold weather has hit but probably the airport that has seen most profit from the weather is Gatwick, there’s no particular explanation for this but possibly a forecast for the future? If you pardon the forecast pun. Compared to last year Gatwick has seen huge benefit in the cold snap with passenger numbers being increased in March by 8.2% compared to 2012 with a massive 446.5k and all other routes also seeing an increase. This has helped Gatwick’s profits massively but will it last? Gatwick sees 34 million passengers yearly but is set its sight on improving and it looks to be working with them having the largest increase in passengers in the cold snap.
