This is the first time we have used Indigo and can't speak more highly of the way in which Rob Selby dealt with us. Nothing was too much trouble and we received instant answers to any questions and queries we raised. We fond their site on the net and subsequently in the local freebie newspapers in Spain. We initially contacted them because of the failure for car hire companies refusing to accept Debit Cards why? The ironical thing is that we eventually ended up having a car from such a company who wanted £20 more if you paid on the day than we were charged through Indigo. Well done everybody great service. You will be our first port of call for future hires.

How do I collect my hire car at Girona Airport?

Girona airport is somewhat different most other airport in Spain when it comes to the collection of your hired car, the majority of suppliers are based a little distance away from the terminal building, having experienced the pick up procedure personally we can say it is not great arduous task, turn left our of arrivals and walk 300 meters, from across the car park you will see the main car rental providers, instructions of exactly how to collect will always be provided on your booking voucher / confirmation.

Do I need an international driving permit for Girona Spain Car hire?

Not at the time of writing (April 2025) there is not a requirement to present an international drivers permit for car rental in Spain including Girona, your EU license or UK license is perfectly acceptable.

Some other countries from outside Europe may need to present an IDP on collection of your hired car, if in doubt reach out and ask our team.

Can you hire a car in Girona if you are over 70?

Yes our car rental offers are suitable for renters that are over the age of 70, well above in fact, no senior driver car hire fee applies.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
