Changes at Dartford Crossing Payment System

Starting from 30th of November 06.00 GMT a new payment system was introduced at Dartford Crossing.
The Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing, commonly known as the Dartford Crossing is a major road crossing of the River Thames in England, connecting Dartford in Kent to the south to Thurrock in Essex.

The new payment system called Dart Charge will replace the barrier payments. The new payment system is meant to ease congestion. The old system with 27-lanes will be replaced with a four express ways system in each direction.

The drivers will need to pay for each crossing either in advance, or by midnight next day.
The fees can be paid online, or by phone or at one at many Payzone terminals.

• Cars: £2.50 (50p increase since Oct. 2014)
• 2 axle goods: £3.00 (50p increase since Oct. 2014)
• Multi-axle goods: £6.00 (1 GBP increase since Oct. 2014)

ways To Pay At Dartford Crossing

Once Dart Charge is operating you can make one-off payments in advance or by midnight the day after crossing:

• Online by clicking on this link: www.gov.uk/dart-charge
• By phone by calling: 0300 300 0120
• At any Payzone terminal
• By post (in advance only): Dart Charge Customer Services PO Box 842 Leeds LS1 9QF

Drivers using a pre-paid account will save up to one third.
The Customers with old DART-Tag accounts received personalized emails with instructions on how to transfer their account to Dart-Charge.

The local residents can apply for a “Local Resident Account” by mailing the following documents:

• your vehicle details
• a current Council Tax bill that matches the address in your application
• proof you live in Dartford or Thurrock, eg a gas, electricity or water bill, bank statement…etc (less than 3 months old)
• proof your vehicle is registered in Dartford or Thurrock, eg a copy of your V5C vehicle registration or a vehicle lease in your name
• a debit or credit card

The same payment system applies also to people who use hired cars to cross the Dartford-Thurrock River. Unfortunately you can’t get a local resident discount if your vehicle is registered to a company.
