If you are under the age of 25 then hiring a car in Falmouth can be an utter nightmare, majority of companies just simply won’t allow you to hire because you are considered a young driver by insurance companies. The issue with this is because of insurance premiums, they are far too high which is why many companies opt not to allow young drivers in their cars.

Obviously this is a real issue, but there are some companies that pay these premiums however it’s reflected in the price as the companies that allow younger drivers charge what is called a young driver additional fee which costs as much as £39/per day.

1. If you are 21 or 22 years old we have a supplier who can offer you young driver car hire in Falmouth. However, there is still a young driver surcharge but we try keep this as low as possible. The only requirement for this offer is that you must have held your licence for at least 1 year.

2. If you are 23 or 24 years old, we have an even better offer for you. The same restriction that you must have held your licence for at least 1 year applies. However, with this offer the young driver surcharge is significantly smaller, saving you lots of money.

We do ask however that you please call us directly as we need to suite you with one specific supplier in the Falmouth area so please Do Not use the online booking engine as we can’t ensure that you will get the correct supplier. Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
