Unfortunately if you are under 25 it can be extremely difficult to find a company that will hire a car to you due to insurance restrictions of the car hire suppliers. Even if you manage to find a supplier that will hire to you as a young driver there rates for young driver surcharges will be extortionate and we felt that we had to do something about this and arrange some sort of deal for young drivers as they may need to hire a car just as much as those who are over 25.

We got on the phone to all the local suppliers in the Inverness area, we attempted to arrange some form of deal for our young drivers and eventually managed to come up with two offers for different age groups. The two offers we have arranged are…

Under 23?

If you are under the age of 23 you usually wouldn’t be able to hire as most companies wouldn’t allow it however don’t worry we have arranged a deal that means people can hire from the age of 21 given that they have held their licence for a year prior to hiring, you will be subject to a young driver additional fee however we will keep it to an absolute minimum and keep the overall rental price involving extras to as low as possible.

23 Or Over?

23 or 24? We have a fantastic deal for you which we are very happy to announce, given that you also have held your licence for a year prior to hiring we can arrange you a deal that means we can supply car hire with just a small addition surcharge. This will save you a massive amount of money as the young driver surcharge often exceeds the cost of the rental.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
